Luke 16:19-…. there was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury everyday.
At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table… even the dogs came and licked his sores….
The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham side…. the rich man also died and was buried in hell where he was in torment he looked up and saw Abraham far away with Lazarus by his side so he called to him…” Father Abraham have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue because I am in agony in this fire”
But Abraham replied,’ son remember that in your lifetime you received your good things while Lazarus received bad things but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.’
And besides all this, BETWEEN US AND YOU A GREAT CHASM HAS BEEN FIXED, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone crossover from there to us.
” He answered, ‘ then I beg you, father send Lazarus to my father’s house for I have five brothers….. let him warn them, that they will not also come to this place of Torment.’
“Abraham replied…’ they have Moses and the prophets; let them listen to them.
‘ No, Father Abraham, he said, ‘ but if someone from the dead goes to them they will repent.’
” he said to him, ‘ if they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.
My comments: so we have the story of the rich man and Lazarus…. let’s talk about some deeper meanings: we are going to look at the words…CORRUPTIBLE…INCORRUPTIBLE…MORTAL…AND IMMORTAL…. for a deeper meaning as to what happens when a person dies….. Greek translation is important here…. corruptible is referring to your body which will die… back to dust .. Incorruptible is your Resurrection body…. EVERYBODY gets one… mortal is the condition of your soul if you die and you haven’t accepted Christ..
……………………… think clearly…..
either you’re a Believer or you’re not… immortal means you accepted Christ in this lifetime….
So whether you’re mortal or immortal depending on your decision you will get a resurrection body…. you will go to paradise but you will be on either side of the gulf… just as the rich man was in Paradise but he was in the prison side… awaiting judgement… Lazarus was on the right side which is Abraham’s bosom… flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of God…. you have to be in your Resurrection body….. so to clarify you’re either saved or not…. mortal if you’re an unbeliever immortal if you’re a believer…. during the thousand year reign of Christ there will be no Second Chances but if you never had the opportunity to hear the true gospel it will be presented to you… this clears up a lot of questions as to God’s fairness… maybe to those who for whatever reason ….that never had an opportunity… it could even be speculated that those on the right side can go over to the wrong side and witness to their family or others… some things cannot be said for sure but it’s a possibility….. in all my years of church-going I have never heard this preached…
I think there are those evangelist who think… it’s too much…. they want to keep the peace …and not start of panic.. or be so controversial that people will leave their Church…. that’s why I reiterate…. study by yourself …with the guidance of the Holy Spirit ….he is hovering over his word ask him to show you what the truth is….
Call me whatever you want to but I am persuaded…. after all I didn’t write this… I didn’t put the story of the rich man and Lazarus in the Bible for all to see… I’m just a messenger… you can’t trust anyone not even me….. do you know what jot and Tittle means in Hebrew?…. it means that every word in the Bible will be fulfilled…. even down to commas… periods…. exclamation points… question marks and whatever grammatical connotations you can think of….. you might be inclined to call it foolishness and why is it so serious… life is serious it’s a gift from God he wants to see what you will do with it…. if you want to you can be like the rich man but you better be careful… don’t be let down the Chipmunk Trail…. there’s nothing but nuts
