Excerpts and a bit of paraphrasing: Farewell address by George Washington September 19th 1796:
Page 7 of the document…. along about the third paragraph As I see it pertains to today…. George Washington and other Great Men of those times we’re obviously enlightened… our school systems from elementary to University level we do our country a great service to teach more about these men…
Back to page 7…. third paragraph or so….
George Washington speaking in his letter… let me now take a more comprehensive View, and warn you in the most solemn manner… of the baneful effects…OF THE SPIRIT OF PARTY…. Generally….
This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its roots in the strongest passions of the human mind… it exists under different shapes and all governments, more or less stifled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness and is truly their worst enemy…
The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of Revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetuated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism.
But this leads add length to a more formal and permanent despotism… the disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and Repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation on the ruins of public Liberty…
My comments: if that doesn’t sound like today I don’t know what does… I don’t care if the left believes in our obvious founding and Heritage… our Constitution is a divinely given document… how can we be so ignorant to think we can divert from Divine guidance…. some of the consequences and results from our departing… is the spirit of lawlessness… that pervades Our Land… Donald Trump is not perfect… but he’s got my vote… at least he’s making a stand… who you going to stand with?…
