Life under the sun…

Ecclesiastes chapter 9: This chapter seems to mainly be about life Under the Sun, or living life In the Flesh on Earth.

King Solomon… as the preacher, opened chapter 9, that he had considered all in his heart, so that he could declare it, that the righteous and the wise and their works are in the hand of God, just to summarize; it rains on the just and the unjust.

Verse 3– This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: that one thing happens to all. Truly the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil; Madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the Dead. But for him who is joined to all the living there is hope, for a living dog, is better than a dead lion.

Verse 5– For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun.

Read to the end for yourself.

Comments: When you first read this, seems it seems pretty dire, but what has to be remembered is that Ecclesiastes and chapter 9 is written for what it’s like to be a human being on Earth, in this chapter at least, it doesn’t address what happens after you die, remember that it it’s only about THIS earthly life under the sun.

End of verse 12: For man also does not know his time; Like fish taken in a cruel net, Like birds caught in a snare, So the sons of men are snared in an evil time, When it falls suddenly upon them.

Again… the body dies… the life under the sun ends, but there is eternity to look forward to.

Solomon ended up claiming that all was vanity, because he had it all…. and realized that relationship and fellowship with God, was the only thing that was truly satisfying.
