Genesis 16:11-12
The angel of the Lord also said to her (Hagar in flight from Sarai): “ You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael for the Lord has heard of your misery”. He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.”
Comments Genesis 16:12…’ A wild donkey of a man’…The epithet was one of praise, because the almost untamable onager (wild ass) was an admired and valuable animal. The last phrase of the verse may mean that Ishmael’s descendants would live to the east of Abraham’s other descendants, or it may mean that they would live in defiance of Abraham’s other descendants. The hostility between Arabs and Jews is well-known.
Further comments: So Isaac was born later as God fulfilled his promise to Abraham and Sarai… see Isaac was the son that God promised… Ishmael was born out of their impatience with God… Isaac of the spirit, Ishmael of the flesh… so we have the ancient history of Isaac and Ishmael… we wonder where all the evil that is presently upon us in this modern-day world came from… Arabs and Jews… the Palestinians fighting to claim a land that is not theirs… Jerusalem in Israel….Frankly My Dear… It was and is an ancient battle between good and evil…. all prophecy will be fulfilled…behold the origins of defiance….behold the origens of Ilhan Omar… visit my blog…littleraventhepoet.blog
