Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by ‘it’ the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the ‘worlds’ were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (there’s a lot in verse 3 lets unpack it a little bit,)
Faith has ‘substance’ Gr, hupostasis … also the evidence or proof.. Gr,elenchos… the elders were born witness to.
Vs 3– Notice, the word ‘world’ (singular) was not used… but the word ‘worlds’ was used… worlds means ‘ages’… please refer to 2nd Peter Chapter 3, where the Three World Ages are discussed… we are currently in the second age… the third one will be the thousand year reign of Christ, or the Millennium ( coming after the Tribulation which we are on the verge of) The reference is not to creation, but to the ordering by God of the ‘dispensations’ (ages), each of which succeeded, but did not spring from its predecessor, as a plant does from its seed… by rendering aionas as ‘worlds’ here; katertisthai as ‘framed’, instead of “prepared”; and gegonenai as “made”, instead of “came into being”, or “ came to pass” the meaning of this important statement is lost.
So… Genesis 1 sums up the truth…In the beginning (Time)… God (Force) created (Action) heavens (space) & earth (matter) …
