THE DEAD, WHERE ARE THEY?

Please join me in a definitive study from God’s Word about exactly where the dead are…we can know…

Reference material used: Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance Of The Bible…. we will be focusing on 1 Corinthians 15:34 and on… we will be looking at Greek meanings of particular words which will bring this subject to light.

So let me emphasize this is not a study of what ‘I think’… this is from the very Word of God… the purpose of this message is to bring knowledge, wisdom and comfort.… for what could be more painful than the loss of a loved one?…. so let’s get to the bottom of this, so we can move on to other important areas of study…

1 Corinthians verse 34…. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Vs 35 and on….But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickend, except it die. ( read vs 37-44 on your own)…

Picking up with vs 45…And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

Vs 50+… Now this I say brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this ‘corruptible’ [see below] must put on ‘incorruption’ [see below], and this ‘mortal’ must put on ‘immortality’ [see below]...(now we get to the heart of the matter)….

The Greek word for ‘Corruptible’ is phthartos, ( Romans 1:23 ) pronounced  fthartes…. the meaning is will perish, decayed, perishable….The Greek word for ‘Incorruptible‘ is aphtartos…. pronounced  af-thar-tos… the meaning is ‘undecaying in essence or continuance’

The Greek word for ‘Mortal’ is thnetos (Romans 6:12)… pronounced  thnay-tos… which is from  thayn-sko…. meaning is ‘liable to die’… the Greek word for ‘Immortal’ is…athanasia… pronounced… ath-an-asee-ah…the meaning is deathlessness…or immortality…

So… in plain English…” The ‘corruptible’ which is decaying and will perish, must put on the ‘incorruptible’, which is undying in essence and continuance….The ‘mortal’ that is ‘liable to die’ must put on the immortal… which is deathlessness and immortality…

So where does all this lead us?… why go to the trouble of this deep study?…. I’m so glad you asked me these questions….so again…WHERE ARE THE DEAD?… and how can we know for sure where they are?… first let’s try some more plain English… when a person dies… they can be in a mortal or immortal state… (a mortal state, if they are an unbeliever in the gospel… or in an immortal state if they are believers per God’s word)… now at the the time of death they go into a resurrected body…( remember flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of God)…& absent from the body present with the Lord…also as part of the death experience… the ‘corruptible’ which is your dead body… must put on incorruption which is your resurrected body… and I might add that this resurrected body is only a temporary form of what will be later, what will come later… so now where do we go?

We go to Luke 16 for an example of what happens in Paradise, when a spirit or soul goes there… see there are two sides to Paradise… as you read the story in Luke 16 of Lazarus and the rich man… you will find that they both have consciousness & a ‘form’ after death, as the rich man is in Paradise, but he’s in a type of prison…( you might be asking ‘how can paradise have a prison?’) [ because these unbelievers are waiting for judgment, and there is a gulf between these and those in Abraham’s bosom… which is the other side of paradise where Lazarus is].. and as you will find out when you read the story… the rich man lived a life of plenty and pleasure, and is now on the wrong side of paradise , and he begs to go back and tell his family, so that they won’t have to come to this horrible place… but God replies that they had the prophets and the testimony of many…and even if someone was resurrected and went back, they still wouldn’t believe… meanwhile Lazarus is on the right side of Heaven… and again as you will find in the story the rich man can look across the gulf, but he can’t cross over, and he can actually see Lazarus in Abraham’s bosom… that my friends is a great symbol of being in hell…. so again… WHERE ARE THE DEAD?… well as you have learned they are in Paradise, but if they are an unbeliever they are on the wrong side of paradise awaiting judgment…( remember they died and have a mortal spirit because of unbelief) if they are believers they are on the right side of Paradise, in what is called Abraham’s bosom (having an immortal spirit awaiting the ‘judgement seat’ of Christ)…. you will find as you continue your studies those on the wrong side of paradise are awaiting the Great White Throne judgment… look it up yourself…. so after you have digested and absorbed this material go back and finish reading 1 Corinthians 15 from verse 55 on to the end…

Note: The Judgment seat of Christ is for believers… salvation is not the issue, but they will be judged for their works while on earth… and will be given or denied awards accordingly…. I believe the Great White Throne Judgment ( for unbelievers) occurs after the thousand year reign of Christ or what is commonly called the Millennium…… I hope this study brings you some peace and comfort about where your lost loved ones are… moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, brothers sisters, friends & babies…. there is hope for the animal kingdom also.. because the Hebrew word used for life force or spirit, is used for dogs and animals also… that word is…NEPHESH… you can check for spelling…. visit my blog….littleraventhepoet.blog…………..Sincerely, Frank Payton…
