I wanted to say in the title of this post … Something about the “goals” of being a writer … But as I think of my writing, I don’t set out with a goal, per se … However I do set out with an idea, with a spark, with some form of inspiration … A nudge from “THE SECRET OTHER” as I guess most people do …
I think most writers including myself, would believe that goals are achieved intuitively … Good and great writing achieved … Through perhaps subconscious or conscious means …
I am sure everyone has their stories … Shakespeare has often taken me (through his writing) to a place of very deep understanding … Of just what it means, to be a human being, with all of its pleasures and struggles … ie: Hamlet …
Edgar Allan Poe has taken me to the wonders and miracles and insights of the extreme imagination …
Charles Dickens seems to create and bring to life the environment and people being written about … ie: ‘A Christmas Carol’ …
Miguel de Cervantes … In the humor of Don Quixote …
So, finally to say, in my humble opinion, writing should make you appreciate life and move you to be glad you’ve been given the chance to experience it … Both the good and the bad … And hopefully to find out exactly what measure of both good and evil resides inside of you … So … IMHO, writing maybe does some good somewhere along this line of life … But mainly it is for the birds after all someone has to feed them … littleraventhepoet.blog … Frank Payton
