Now we venture into some deep waters … One of the most fascinating and controversial issues in The Bible is the study of “predestination and election”… Have you ever wondered “why” some people believe in the gospel and others do not?… I will give you the basics but you will have to study on your own (deep water) … It is truly a fascinating study … There are schools of thought concerning “predestination and election”… The ‘Armenian’ belief is that God works through His foreknowledge of whether a person will accept Christ or not … The ‘Calvinists’ believe that God “before the creation of the world” ‘chose’ who would believe and who wouldn’t … Literally who would go to heaven and who wouldn’t … Where do I stand? … I tend to agree with an anonymous source that put it this way …” God reaches down and man reaches up.”… To say the least, it is a mysterious subject involving God’s will and “our free will” … I’m thinking of the scripture that says …” We see through a glass darkly.”… In other words, some things are hard to understand this side of life … moving on…
John 24:5 … Paraphrased … The disciples reported to Thomas … (called Didymus) … Saying, “We have seen the Lord.”… But Thomas said to them … “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my fingers where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.”… Jesus allowed Thomas to see and touch the wounds on His hands and side… And said to Thomas … “Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas then said “My Lord and my God.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; “blessed” ( means happy in Hebrew ) are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Finally … As we think about and look to Resurrection Sunday … I remember one of my favorite scriptures … Luke 24: 5 … (As the two women approached Jesus’s tomb) … Two angels appeared, that looked like lightning, and said to the women … “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen”! Happy Easter.
