I sat up quicker than usual in my bed. My dog Aja, was in the middle of the bed in her typical Sphinx-like position, sitting quietly staring straight ahead.
I turned my head to the right to where I could just see in my peripheral vision, an outline of an unknown entity under the quilt reclining in my bed. The entity’s head was almost at a right angle up against the headboard; the body reclined with legs tucked, one leg crossing over the other. I could hear shallow but consistent breathing, but no other movement was visible. I could not decide if I dared to pull the quilt back and reveal just what or who seemed present. As I stretched my arm toward the figure, I suddenly woke up. Story by C. A. Munding us.
