Why do so many of us end up hopeless, beaten down, used up, forgotten,” tucked away” in some room in a home, or put in an institution, to stare out a window, drooling and soiling ourselves? When do we become worthless? Who decides when a person is worthless? Do we become worthless when we can no longer vote? … When we can no longer be used and abused by our government? … Just when does it happen? … Some debilitating disease? … Is it when you have given your family and society all that you can give and can no longer give?
