A look at Romans 8: 1- 4:
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit.
My Commentary: People are born physically alive but spiritually dead. The reason: We are all ‘in Adam’ who fell in the garden and brought death into the human race, through disobedience. I believe a lot of the misunderstanding between unbelievers concerning believers revolves around this: Once a person is convicted of his / her sin from the Holy Spirit, and he/she makes a decision for Christ and is born again, this is often missed: Now we have two natures at war in the human being. We now have a new spirit of life living within us, but we can still backslide into the old nature, this doesn’t mean we are in total rebellion against God, this is where repentance and renewal come in. In summary, evidence of a person’s conversion should show a constant striving to walk after the Spirit.
Further: The law of the “spirit” (or new nature) sets us free from the claims of the law. From the condemnation of sin in the flesh or (old nature) by God sending his son in the likeness of sinful flesh. Result: The law of the “spirit” or (new nature) fulfills the righteous requirements of the law.
