I will stretch my proverbial philosophical legs. How is Satan god of this world? ( 2 Corinthians 4:4)?
The phrase “god of this world” ( or “god of this age”) indicates that Satan is the major influence on the ideals, opinions, goals, hopes, and views, of the majority of people. His influence also encompasses the world’s philosophies, education, and commerce. The thoughts, ideas, speculations and false religions of the world are under his control and have sprung from his lies and deceptions. Ref: Got Questions?
Ephesians 2:2 — Satan is called the “prince of the power of the air” he is the “ruler of this world” John 12:31. Satan has many titles and capabilities. To say that Satan is the “prince of the power of the air” is to say that in some way, he is ruler over this world and it’s people.
Having said this, he does not rule the world completely. God is still sovereign. God has allowed Satan to work in this world, but he has set boundaries for him. God has given Satan domain over unbelievers. Believers are no longer ruled by Satan. ( Colossians 1:13)
Ephesians 2:2– You were dead in your trespasses and sins … in which you formally walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
The defeat of Satan. 1 John 3:8– He that commits sins is of the devil for the devil sins from the beginning … For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Comments: Since the garden of Eden and the fall of man, Satan has been in power. It was a power allowed by God’s perfect will. Understand God did not initiate it, He allowed it. Satan produced his sin within himself, he was full of pride and wanted to rise higher than God.
Have you thought about why God is hated by a majority of people that have ever lived, are currently living, or will live?
There was a rebellion, Satan led 1/3 of the spirit beings at that time (in the first age) in rebellion against God. ( Study 2 Peter 3:5 about “earth ages.”) Satan was in the garden of Eden, He seduced Adam and Eve and caused the “fall of man.”
God and his followers are hated because God through his Son Jesus, has reclaimed what was lost, Jesus through his sacrificial death defeated Satan and took back what was rightfully Gods.
The battle is still raging but quickly concluding, in this, the second earth age mentioned in 2 Peter 3:5. Friends, it is my firm belief, (based on scripture) that we are living this flesh blood and bone existence because we were “spirit beings” in the first earth age; ( animals had flesh bodies) we more than likely ( in the first earth age) rebelled against God. God has wiped our memories clean ( of first earth age memories) and put us in this flesh blood and bone body to decide who we will serve. God was not willing and is not willing that any should perish. So here we are on earth. This explains a lot of things for me. Deep, dedicated study is required.
