Can we redefine, knowingly add to, or change God’s Word without consequence?
This post will be offensive to some. However, from my experience and opinion, we in the U.S. live in a post-modern society. Post-modern meaning, that few or no absolute truths are observed and rarely considered. Morality in traditional forms are dead or dying. Lack of morality is contributing to America’s decline. Society is more obsessed with each individuals truth and rules for the game of life. No society, to my knowledge, has ever been fruitful and productive without laws, rules, and regulations. I’m sure that everyone can see the lawlessness even in our own elected officials and government. We certainly can see it in the rampant crime in the streets across America. We now have a weaponized Department of Justice FBI and many other institutions that used to be respected and obeyed. We are hell bent on a one party despot type of government, a lot of us anyway. OK let’s proceed.
Consider Revelation 22:18-21.
For I testify unto every man that hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things,God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And If any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
He Which testify these things saith, ” Surely, I come quickly.”
SO IN THE SPIRIT Of testing your Bible knowledge wouldn’t it be safe or accurate to say this:?
Are all other religions and even within Christianity that are guilty of changing, adding to, or subtracting from God’s word, guilty of the above mentioned sin? Before answering, be careful.
Examples of possible offenders, JEHOVAH’S WITNESS, ( This cult has a complete book dealing with the “art of redefinition of terms” to suit their interpretation of the Bible.) MORMONISM: They believe in eternal marriage. God’s word says there will be no marriage in heaven. They have their own Bible, the Book of Mormon, it is in direct conflict with revelation 22:18– 21. Research Mormonism and make your own decision. There are many religions across the world that are but cheap imitations of the gospel of Christ. Most of them have to do with earning our way to heaven through good works. The question that must be asked is this: If we could earn our way through good works, why was it necessary for Christ to die the horrible death that he died on the cross.
