Dear Lord, remove collectively, individually, nationally, and globally, our hearts of stone. Put in each of us a heart of flesh. Put in us renewed hearts and minds; hearts of compassion, hearts of empathy, and sympathy. Dear Lord, please stretch your mighty long arm down to this defiled realm, this abused earth and its inhabitants. As you did with your servant Paul, remove the scales from our eyes, please.
Lord, forgive us for kicking you to the curb. Forgive us for thinking we can be little god’s. Please remind us that you are the creator and we are the created. Lord we need deliverance from ourselves. It seems that us humans can not use our talents and tend toward good. it seems we tend towards evil. Most of us are tired and weary of the struggle between good and evil. We are desperately trying for answers, some of us anyway.
Lord, please send the Holy Spirit to make evident ( to those searching ) the scripture that proclaims : If we have seen Jesus, we have seen the Father.( John 14: 8-10) ( Yes, I know this is a lot to digest, but we must trust.) And I don’t say trust blindly, there is plenty of history and evidence to support what Jesus says about Himself, yet faith is what God requires.
God the Father has a plan in place to redeem what has been lost; both His physical universe and humans made in His image. In order to reveal Himself, God had to take on the form of a man. If God appeared in his full glory on earth, no one could stand in His presence and would die immediately. So God sent his son Jesus, who was one hundred percent man and one hundred percent God. Yes, there are many situations where Jesus seems to be only human. This can be understood by the fact that Jesus laid aside attributes of His deity to totally identify with His created beings. Yet He was without sin. You see, He became Sin so that you and I would not be judged for our sins by God the Father. As you may or may not know, there is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood. Jesus came as the once and for all sacrifice opening up the doors of salvation and eternal life. To speak metaphorically, we can say that the wedding invitations have been sent out, but only some will accept the invitation. ( Speaking of The Marriage Supper OF The Lamb.) Jesus, unlike many ‘gods’ that claim to be God, is The One that overcame death, our biggest enemy.
Lord, we repent of our ignorance, our apathy, our selfishness, many of us bound by the Spirit of lawlessness, death and destruction running rampant. Lord, we need You back in our government, our schools, our churches, our hearts and all that we put our hands to. Forgive us for neglecting You.
