QUESTION: How do we deal with calamity on a national, local, or individual basis? We have to be careful where we place the blame. I think a lot of times in our ignorance, the blame is misplaced or misguided. Remember, we are in a fallen state and world, some disasters are caused by nature, some are allowed by God, and Satan is wreaking havoc in some cases. Calamity and its causes can be hard to totally understand.
First, some background: Let me make it clear that God and the devil are not equal in power. God has more power in his pinky finger than Satan could ever have. The “one true God” is a creator, Satan is a created being. Satan is a destroyer. He could not create lemonade. I think there might be a belief among the ignorant that somehow these are two cosmic forces that are equal in fighting each other. They are more than cosmic, they are SUPERBEING ENTITIES, God way more than the created Satan. God is so Holy and omnipotent that we mere mortals die in His presence. Some men have been allowed to be in God’s presence and live because His presence is “toned down.” There are many references to this in scripture that you will have to find for yourself. I have a different goal in mind in this writing.
Believe it or not, God has a “perfect will” that is being accomplished in his earth and universe. I personally believe that He has a permissive will operating within His perfect will. God has a timetable for ‘ages’ to come and go, kingdoms to rise and fall. Humans to be born, live, and die. Some to go to heaven and some to go to hell. Again, we have to be careful who we blame and hold responsible for our circumstances and actions. God proclaims that His people perish for ‘lack of knowledge‘.
Let’s consider some scriptural evidence in the life of Job. Satan can not bring physical and financial destruction upon us unless it is by God’s permission, be it national or individual destruction. It is beyond our human ability to understand all the “why’s behind all the suffering in this world. Ok, let’s move on.( paraphrased ). God said to Satan,” Have you considered my servant Job?” Satan replied, ” He worships You because You have given him everything, if you let me take it all away from him he will curse you. God basically told Satan to go for it, but he was not allowed to kill Job. So Satan destroyed most everything that Job had, family, animals, and property. ( Read the story of Job. It is quite lengthy but well worth it.)
So, back to the issue of how do we deal with calamity? In the story of Job, God “removed the hedge,” protecting Job. Satan had God’s permission to go so far in destroying Job. Let’s compare America (and mind you, Israel was warned and judged in a similar manner, many times through her history) to Job. America, since the end of World War Two, had been going along “fat and sassy,” becoming the WORLD LEADER. We as a nation and personally by the multitudes “fell away from God.” So from roughly Post WW TWO until now we have all but abandoned God. I personally believe that God removed “the hedge of protection” from America as He grew weary of our decline from Him. THE ATTACK OF 9/11 WAS PERMITTED IN GOD’S PERFECT WILL, now understand, the ’cause and initiation of this attack’ was not by God, however it was allowed by Him. GOD WAS AND STILL IS CALLING AMERICA TO RETURN TO HIM. Again, study the ancient history of the nation of Israel, even up until now, and how God has dealt with her, this is our baseline.
HERE IS MY CONCERN FOR AMERICA: WE HAVE FALLEN TO never before seen depths of rebellion against God. Of course there is still a remnant of believers. The remnant is wearing thinner and thinner. LOOK AT OUR DECLINE. LOOK at all the institutions that made us the great country we are? (were). They are slowly being destroyed. We are Rome on fire × 100. The sad thing is our own elected ” Regressive Radical Left ELECTED politicians and leaders, ‘amongst other well dressed criminals’ are behind the betrayal and takeover of America, through an approaching one party system.
More evidence of God allowing America’s decline, ( beyond the abortion of some 63 million babies).
Let’s look at the book of Amos, chapter 4: 6-12. As you read this in the book of Amos chapter 4, compare how God has blessed America, yet we continue to rebel and fall away. We are in dire straits in America, as our country is in the midst of severe judgment. We refuse to RETURN TO HIM.
Amos 4: 6-12. “Also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places; yet you have not returned to me,” says the Lord. “I also withheld rain from you, when there was still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city, one part was rained upon, and where it did not rain that part withered. So two or three cities wandered to another city to drink water, but they were not satisfied; yet you have not returned to me.” says the Lord. “I blasted you with blight and mildew. when your gardens increased, your vineyards, your fig trees, and your olive trees, the locust devoured them; yet You have not returned to me.” Says the Lord.
“I sent among you a plague after the manner of Egypt. Your young men I killed with a sword, along with your captive horses; I made the stench of your camps come up into your nostrils; yet you have not returned to Me,” says the Lord. “I overthrew some of you as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a firebrand plucked from the burning; Yet you have not returned to Me,” says the Lord. “Therefore this will I do to you, O Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”
Note: In your ignorance please don’t say “Well that was Israel and this is America, it doesn’t apply.” Quit being shallow and ignorant, God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. I am creating a pattern of the way God operates, you have to grab on to it, time is running out. If you want to remain dull, dead, and drab, that’s your business, I will press on.
So, Can you see how people in general and our nation and other nations do not do well in prosperity. The point being that we get fat and sassy and we fall away, forgetting where our blessings came from. To wrap up, God is calling us collectively, nationally, and individually to return to Him.
