CAN WE IDENTIFY AS BEING “IN” SOMEONE ELSE?

A study in Romans 8: 16-17 and Romans 6: 3-11. Believers, do you know who you really are? ARE YOU CLAIMING YOUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST? IT’S TIME TO GIRD UP YOUR LOINS FOR SERIOUS SPIRITUAL WARFARE.

Romans 8: Verses 16-17: The Spirit Itself bareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; If so be that we suffer with Him, that we made be also glorified together. “suffering together with” (Him) is that of Romans 6: 3,4,6,8,11, and not the sufferings of this present time, KJV. Look at Romans 6 as mentioned above, moving to NKJV for clarity: Begin at verse 3: Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For He who has died, has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that the Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more, death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Commentary, brothers and sisters, do not make the mistake of thinking that christians, once having received Christ, no longer sin. Of course the goal is not to sin, the grace of God is not a license for us to sin, but if we do, and we shall, we have an advocate in Jesus Christ. We must repent and god will forgive.
