We are in the book of Revelation chapter 8, studying about the coming Trumpets of Judgment. If you think things are bad now, you haven’t seen anything in this pre- Tribulation era we are living in. Truly, the ever increasing troubles in America and throughout the world are the forerunner to the coming Anti Christ. The seven Trumpets are judgments from God to deal with evil. Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water because it was made bitter. ( Revelation 8: 10-11).

The third trumpet is blown, and fresh water devastation follows. A star called Wormwood crashes to the earth. This might be a meteor strike. In Scripture, wormwood is used to illustrate bitterness, as seen in the words of the profit Jeremiah: “He has filled me with bitterness. He has made me drink wormwood.” ( Lamentations 3:15 ). One-third of all fresh water will be tainted by the star. The fact that many men died from the water indicates that either the taint is too strong for modern decontamination techniques or the water purification systems in many cities and countries no longer exist. While the destruction of food sources will start claiming victims in weeks, the loss of pottable drinking water will begin taking lives on a massive scale within a few days.
