A look at Matthew 6:19-21
MOST I think…. are aware of, or should be aware of this scripture in Matthew 6.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and ‘rust’ NIV (VERMIN) doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Our challenge as human beings is that we live in the ‘Here and Now’… to further complicate the challenge, we live in a culture that wants instant gratification in almost everything that we do…
What really prompted me to comment and write about this scripture (Matthew 6) is a thankful feeling that fell over me, as I was thinking about all the violence and rioting going on in our country… and I was joyful for what God has put in my mind and my heart concerning this life, and giving me a spirit of thankfulness and appreciation for all life…. that means the earth itself, our solar system and universe… all of humanity… the animal kingdom… so on and so forth..
So my main concern and question has to be, in view of all the political division, the hatred, the rioting, the violence… the stealing of things that do not belong to those that are stealing…TV’s….clothes….etc…is why are some living and dying for things that are temporary and will not last?….( back to ‘Give us what we want NOW or we will burn the system down’ mentality)… I like the nice things of this life…. but I know I can’t take one single thing with me when I die… things in this life are just not that satisfying to me…. but I understand those of a heathen mind and heart could find great satisfaction in the things of this world…
So that’s why I’m thankful…. that God has revealed to me, and put in me, what he has put in me… and that is mainly a heart and mind that is concerned with the things that are eternal…. because this life is so fragile, fleeting, and dangerous… This life is only a test… let’s not fail the test…. let’s not trade the temporal, the slowly dying, for the eternal…. visit my blog at littleraventhepoet.blog…Sincerely, Frank Payton….”Watch out, the Vermin are everywhere”
